“I feel empty and numb,” Sarah said. “I don’t think I can handle much more.”
Sarah and I were on a Zoom video call with a couple of our other friends. We were having one of our monthly check-ins and catching up.
Sarah has been working through a lot for a very long time. Her father passed away. Her job has been really intense and everything else going on in the world was really weighing on her.
Like so many of us, these times (especially the last several months), had her feeling emotional and stretched.
Kelli and Tamara, our other friends on the call, were feeling stretched too.
“I’ve been pushing and pushing, waiting for things to fall into place with my business. I was hoping by now more would have come together.” Kelli said and let out a big sigh.
“I just don’t understand what’s going on in this country. Some days I wonder if we’re just going to continually go from one tragic incident to the next?” Tamara asked.
As I sat there that evening, listening and catching up with my friends, I felt so grateful that we’ve been able to go through all of this together and process things. It’s been intense and so heavy at times.
I also started thinking about all the challenges I personally have been pushing through and the big pieces I am still waiting on and hoping will fall into place.
What about you?
Is there something today you’re working through or hoping will fall into place? If so, know that you’re not alone.
Many of us are in one way or another being asked to trust and embrace the unknown. And, in case it’s helpful, I’ll share with you what I reminded myself of and told my friends that day.
Remember to focus in on the light! Yes, as the good old cliche goes, there’s light at the end of the tunnel.
Although you’ve probably heard it countless times, it’s SO HELPFUL to remind yourself of this today and see yourself taking step after step forward and making your way through that tunnel.
Every day you want to see that light getting closer and closer and see yourself coming out the other side of the tunnel stronger and better. It’s a powerful image to see in your mind every day (especially on those tough days).
It's also a good reminder.
We’ve got to trust whatever happens as we’re making our way through the tunnel. Not just a little bit or kind of…we’ve gotta dig deep and really trust whatever arises because in one way or another, it’s all happening for a reason and we are going to find our way through that tunnel.
It’s like that great quote and little piece of wisdom reminds us…
“Trust the wait. Embrace the uncertainty. Enjoy the beauty of becoming.” Mandy Hale
Here’s a simple little practice to do today that will help you keep driving forward.
