How to Make A Busy Week Better

Making A Busy Week Better

The weekend has come and gone. I’m sitting at my desk preparing for the week ahead.

I glance at my calendar and Trello board with my “To Do” list for the week. There’s a lot to do–two big project deadlines, hours of meetings, appointments for the kids, and an ever growing list of tasks at home that need to be handled. It’s going to be another BUSY week.

What about you? Do you also have a busy week ahead and a lot of “stuff of life” that needs to be taken care of?

If so, you’re not alone. It’s a busy time for many of us. But, that’s okay…we’ll get through it all AND it’s also a good sign.

A good sign?

Yes, that’s right. It’s a good sign that there is a lot being thrown us at right now. It means we’re making our way up the path and life is unfolding, shifting and rearranging the way we need it to.

Even if it doesn’t seem or feel all that amazing, when you step back and look at the bigger picture, what is actually going on is a really good thing. You’re being strengthened, expanded, and positioned for your next phase of growth and success.

And, the good news is that there is a way to handle these times.

There’s no need to fall into the trap of feeling stressed, overwhelmed or bothered by all that you’re being asked to handle right now.

What will make the days flow better?

Since there is a lot to do, it’s a good time to make sure we’re moving through the days with a specific, effective plan of action and our best energy flowing. It just makes everything easier when we have an organized plan for the day, feel grounded, inspired, and are ready to take on whatever comes our way.

And, the very first step to take today is to make sure you’ve got the right outlook and perspective. As that great piece of wisdom reminds us…“The first place we lose the battle is in our own thinking.” J. Osteen

That’s why I love the wisdom of the week because it’s a great reminder for us that there really is a good way to “carry the load” and everything we have on our plates today.

Another step we want to take today is to get SUPER organized. You can strategically schedule your days so you’re able to bring your best attention, ideas, and problem solving skills to all the work, tasks and whatever else you have going on. I’ve included the specifics steps to integrate into your day below.

Have a great day and week! Keep making your way up the path and remember to celebrate how far you’ve come. It’s easy to lose sight of all that you’ve done. But, you’ve made so much progress and taken so many steps forward. Everything you need is unfolding perfectly.

I’ll check in with you again next week.

With you on the journey,
Sibyl

The Practice of the Day

1. Elevate Your Perspective Every Morning. Remind yourself of that great piece of wisdom from Ralph Marston…”What you do today, improves all your tomorrows.” It’s important to connect the dots and see how every single thing you’re handling today, in one way or another, is setting you up for more success in the future. It helps get you inspired every day. As an example, if you’ve got a lot of work to do today, then remind yourself that doing it well and giving 100% will eventually pay off for your job or reaching future goals. Or, if you’ve got problems you’re working to solve right now, remind yourself that each step forward you take today is setting you up to succeed and be in a better position tomorrow.

2. Schedule the Day. Get super organized and plan out your day by the hour. Write down when you will do each thing you need to handle today. Be as specific as possible. You’ll be amazed at how productive you’ll be when you plan out the day in advance by the hour. It helps keep you focused, on schedule and making tons of progress by the end of the day.

3. Keep Your Best Energy Flowing. When you have a lot to do, you might feel like the last thing you have time for is self-care. But that’s actually what you need most. Make time for yourself and do those things that help you relax, unwind and recharge…exercise, yoga, meditation, or just taking some time to yourself. There’s nothing more important than “Me time” and recharging when you’ve got a lot going on. Make sure to include it on your schedule for the day (Step #2) so that you remember to take this time for yourself.
